You’ve Landed In The Right Place
Landmass Wines is a dynamic winery rooted in the Columbia River Gorge and was built on the belief that great wine brings people together.
Our name Landmass is an homage to the significant sites our fruit is grown, each with its own unique attributes that shape our winemaking approach.
Founded by partners in business and life, Melaney Schmidt and Malia Myers, Landmass pairs technical excellence with radical approachability—making energetic wines that reflect place, people, and purpose.
With two women at the helm, Landmass steps confidently outside traditional wine norms, building more than just a winery, positioning itself as a community anchor where intimidation gives way to inclusivity.
High-elevation sparkling wines are Landmass’ defining signature, having been recognized as the first and only winery to independently produce all four methods of sparkling wine in Oregon, including a rare Charmat Method Sparkling Chenin Blanc.
Stretching their winemaking agility, they also produce thoughtful still wines that highlight unique vineyards throughout the Pacific Northwest, showcasing the diversity and their appreciation for the region. The result is an expressive portfolio that’s well-loved for its authenticity and character.
Melaney brings a rigorous, academic approach to winemaking, shaped by mentorship, experience, and a dedication to exploring her craft.
Her philosophy is informed by heritage: a father who spent decades perfecting engines with German precision and a mother who instilled confidence and a take-no-shit attitude.
For Melaney, respect for process is non-negotiable.
Malia leads with heart.
Influenced by her grandparents’ histories—from the sugar cane fields of Hawai‘i to a family-run grocery store—her work is grounded in community, connection, and respect for the land.
She believes that hard work only matters if there’s space for joy, and that wine is ultimately about people: who grows it, who shares it, and who gathers around it.
